Formed in 2003 by six games industry veterans, Gusto Games is a 100% independent games developer operating from new offices in a delightful Oxfordshire village in the heart of the English countryside. The founders of Gusto have a development heritage stretching back many years not only as individuals, but also as a team. Gusto has its own propriety cross-platform technology, Proteus, which has been refined over the past 10 years and proven across many platforms and titles.
Some highlights for Gusto Games include:
- Within days of incorporation Gusto secured a contract to develop ‘Urban Freestyle Soccer’ on PS2, Xbox, Gamecube and PC.
- In 2004 Gusto was approached by Eidos to handle all console development of their flagship brand ‘Championship Manager’.
- In 2005 Gusto signed its original game ‘ProStroke Golf’ to publisher Oxygen Interactive.
- At the end of 2005 Gusto Games entered the ‘Develop 100 – Most Successful Games Development Studios’
- Nominated as ‘Best New UK Development Studio’ in the Develop Awards 2005.
- The studio won ‘Best Creative’ at the 2006 Oxfordshire Business Awards.
- 2006 saw the relase of ‘Championship Manager 2006’ on PS2, Xbox and PSP.
- Simon Phillips, Gusto’s Managing Director, awarded Oxfordshire’s ‘Young Business Person of the Year 2006’
- 2007 saw the successful release of ‘Championship Manager 2007’ on Xbox 360, PS2 and PSP a title that was developed in less than 9 months.
- 2007 also saw the release of Gusto's first online distributed title ‘UTour Golf’ via the SkillGround game network.
- In June 2007 and based in Derby a second studio was formed to specialise in non-sports products, the first of which will be released in 2008 by Scholastic Media.
- Between 2007 and 2008 Gusto doubled its head count and is continuing to expand as we build new partnerships with visionary publishers.
- September 2008 Gusto is ‘5 years old’. Without its team of dedicated professionals this would not have been possible.
- October 2008 saw the NTSC release of our first products aimed at the children's market, ‘Ultimate I SPY and Goosebumps Horrorland’.
- November 2008 and ‘Golf.com Pro Challenge’ is released on Facebook.
- August 2009 saw the officially licensed ‘Ashes Cricket 2009’ released on Wii by Codemasters.
- The ‘Ashes Cricket 2009’ hits number 1 in the all formats chart and number 2 in the Wii chart.
- October 2009 will see the PAL release of ‘Ultimate I Spy’ on Wii and ‘Goosebumps Horrorland’ on Wii and NDS.
